Today, on February 14, 2026, a heavy artillery shell struck and exploded at a residential house in Ngyim Cham Thayar Ward, Lone Khin Village Tract, Hpakant Township, Kachin State. The explosion caused damage to the house, but there were no civilian injuries.
On February 13, a landmine exploded while children were playing with it near Maw Wan Gyi Village at Taung Pyo Village, Hpakant Township. The explosion resulted in the death of one child and caused severe injuries to three others.
Due to the daily risks of heavy artillery shelling and landmines in the Hpakant region, KHRW urges all civilians to exercise extreme caution in their daily movements.
